Beer Description
This is a beer that is fermented at warmer temperatures and then lagered for a conditioning period like a traditional lager style beer.
Altbier gets its name from its German meaning – “old beer”. This was the old method used by European breweries to produce a crystal clean beer until lager strains of yeast were isolated. A traditional Altbier is below 5% ABV. A few German breweries produce a Sticke Alt, or secret Alt of higher alcohol content. This beer falls into that category. The secret, old recipe produces a beer that is malty, clean and as strong as the men who dared to brew it.
